AKKO Red Plan FAQs

+ What items are covered by an AKKO Plan?

Your AKKO Plan covers just about any of your everyday personal items. From electronics to sports gear, even appliances. Once registered, you can select Any 25 of your belongings to load into your AKKO account, but your coverage extends to any items you own eligible for coverage. Plus, your items can be swapped out whenever you’d like.

Choose from:

Electronics: Phones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches, TV’s, desktop computers, monitors, and more

Photography/Video equipment: Cameras, lenses, accessories, tripods, gimbals, all other gear

Audio/Music Gear: Speakers, electronic music instruments, DJ equipment, headphones, musical instruments, and other gear/peripherals

Gaming: Videogame consoles, controllers, peripherals, VR, and more

Personal Transportation items (non-motorized): Bikes, scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, unicycles

Sports/Recreational Gear: Skiis, snowboards, surfboards, golf clubs, tennis rackets, camping/climbing equipment, and other sports gear and accessories

Clothing & Accessories: Clothes, jackets, shoes, sunglasses, watches, jewelry, and more

Appliances: Blenders, coffee makers, microwaves, and other appliances, including the ones pre-furnished in dorms/apartments/homes you’re living/renting in

School Supplies: Textbooks, backpack, calculators, other educational tools and items

+What is the Deductible on an AKKO Plan?

The deductible for AKKO Plans is $99 for any incident of Accidental Damage or Theft. — Simple and Affordable.

iPhones and Samsungs now have different deductibles. Please review the blue plan FAQs for deductibles based on phone model.

The deductible for an AKKO Student Plan is only $49!

This amount that is “deducted” from any claim payout you receive exists so that individuals are still motivated to be careful with their stuff.

But with an AKKO Plan, we made sure to have the deductibles at least be set at easily affordable amounts rather than the $150 – $400 deductibles seen on many other protections plans for phones, laptops, and other electronics.

+ What is the coverage limit?

The AKKO Red Plans ($15/month for adults, $12/month for military/students) includes $2,000 of coverage PER INCIDENT**. There are no annual coverage limits or a limit on the number of claims you may file.

**$2,000 of coverage PER INCIDENT means that if next week on Monday your phone is stolen, up to the replacement value of your phone is covered as long as that amount is less than $2,000.

If at another point in the same year you drop your laptop and the screen is smashed, up to the repair or replacement value cost of the laptop is covered as well as long as it’s less than $2,000.

But, there is not an annual limit of $2,000 which would be exhausted in case replacing your phone cost $900 and replacing your laptop had cost $1,500.

This demonstrates PER INCIDENT coverage and the per incident limit with an AKKO Plan is $2,000. There is not an annual limit.

HOWEVER, if during a single incident someone steals your entire backpack, filled with your phone, and laptop, up to $2,000 total is covered to replace those items and any other contents of your backpack, plus the backpack itself. So if the combined replacement cost was above $2,000 for all these items, you would only have coverage up to $2,000.

Higher PER INCIDENT coverage limits are available!

Once you’re registered, you can upgrade your coverage to a PER INCIDENT coverage limit as high as $10,000! But for a more common $3,000 – $5,000 PER INCIDENT coverage limit upgrade, it’s only a couple more dollars per month 🙂

The $2,000 of PER INCIDENT coverage is more than enough for the majority of users based on our studies and the claims rates of currently covered users nationwide. But for those with more expensive items like a high-end laptop, or specialty gear like photography or music/audio equipment, the option to upgrade your limit is easily available. Simply contact us via the “billing” section of your account and we can upgrade your coverage limit.

Other Limitations:

  1. Coverage for jewelry, watches, rings, and other items consisting of gold, silver, or platinum or furs is limited $1,000.00 for any one Loss.

  2. Coverage for bicycles is limited to $1,000.00.

  3. Property in a personally owned automobile is covered, provided that the vehicle was locked and windows are fully closed at the time of theft and there was visible evidence of forced entry into the vehicle.

+ What items are NOT covered by an AKKO Plan?

Automobile, motorcycle, boat, motor, aircraft or aircraft parts or any type of motorized land vehicle or other conveyances or their accessories (including car stereos, GPS navigation devices, keyless entry), money in currency or coin, evidences of debt, letters of credit, passport documents, notes, securities, transportation tickets or any other tickets, pharmaceuticals, prescription or over- the- counter, artwork, professional or amateur, antiques or collectables, animals, firearms or ammunition, salesman samples, contact lenses, keys, artificial teeth or limbs, or merchandise for sale, forms of identification, including student ID’s and driver’s licenses.

Coverage for jewelry, watches, rings, and other items consisting of gold, silver, or platinum or furs is limited $1,000.00 for any one Loss. Coverage for bicycles is limited to $1,000.00. + Does an AKKO Plan cover Lost Items and Lost Phones?

If you were to “Lose” one of your belongings, you would need to evaluate the situation to determine if it fell under being theft, or what’s called “mysterious disappearance” (aka, you simply misplaced your belonging and have no idea where it went).

Use tools like Find My iPhone/Android to try and recover your phone, or similar services to track down a laptop/tablet. Take screenshots or record evidence of your attempts to recover your phone to provide the most complete set of evidence you can with your claims.

The coverage you get with an AKKO Plan will cover theft, but will not cover “mysterious disappearance.”

+ Can I add Multiple Phones to my AKKO Plan?

All plans are per individual and will only cover items that the named individual on the policy owns. This means that if you file a claim, you must have proof of ownership of an item with your name on it (a purchase receipt, billing statement, etc.) Plans cannot be shared with friends.

Adult and Student Plan accounts may have up to (1) phone on their account. To add more phones, you must purchase additional Adult and/or Student Plans.

+When does my coverage take effect?

Your coverage with an AKKO Plan begins 12:01AM the day after your account has been created as long as you have activated your account and completed set-up and your payment is current. This is an exlcusive benefit provided by Military Mobile in partnership with AKKO.

Coverage for theft, vandalism, fires/floods and natural disasters begins as soon as your coverage takes effect. Coverage for incidents of accidental damage begins 30 days from your registration date.

To have coverage be effective for your items, photos of them should be uploaded to your account in accordance with the guidelines listed in your account.

Photos of phones and tablets should be uploaded using the phone’s own cameras (front and rear) to provide pictures of the front (screen) and back sides of the device by taking the photos in front of a mirror.

Photos of laptops and computers should be taken by including a photo of the device with the screen powered on and also displaying the “about” page showing the specs and serial # of the computer.

+Can I add items that are older or used to my coverage?

Yes!

The age or place you purchased your items does not matter. As long as an item is eligible for coverage, regardless of its age or if you purchased it used from a store or individual, you can add it to your plan and have it covered through AKKO.

For items you purchased used or through a 3rd party marketplace platform such as Craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or OfferUp, request an email be sent to you by a seller stating the date you purchased an item, the amount paid, and what the item was. This can suffice as a purchase receipt should you be asked to provide one during a claim! You can follow this method including if you paid for items in cash and screenshot a payment you made via Venmo or another payment app or service like PayPal.

+ Are there any STUDENT or MILITARY discounts with AKKO?

Yes! Both Students or Military members can receive a discounted rate ONLY on the AKKO Red plan. This discounts provides you the discounted rate of $12/month and even more with $10/month annual plans!

+What are my deductibles for iPhones?

The standard deductible on all Phone Coverage Plans is $75 for any claim, Damage or Theft. However, if you have a $300 or lower plan, it is $29. If you have the under $500 plan, it is $49. For all other blue phone plans, it is $75.

Samsung A21 and older: $29 for repair. Samsung A51/71:$49 for repair.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and older: $49 for repair. Samsung Galaxy S9/9+: $49 for repair.
All other Samsung Galaxy Models: $75 for repair. All Samsung Galaxy Note Models: $75 for repair.

+What are my deductibles for other devices?

The standard deductible on all Phone Coverage Plans is $75 for any claim, Damage or Theft. However, if you have a $300 or lower plan, it is $29. If you have the under $500 plan, it is $49. For all other blue phone plans, it is $75.

The standard deductible on all Laptop/Tablet Coverage Plans is $49 for any claim, Damage or Theft.

Discounted deductibles are only for repair jobs, standard $75 deductible applies for any replacement claim.

All other customers with a $600 Limit or higher plans pay the standard $75 deductible for any claim - Including screen repairs.

+What are my coverage limits?

Unlike a Warranty, these Phone Insurance plans do not have a maximum limit of coverage over the lifetime of the plan that is purchased. For example, if you choose a plan with a $400 Limit, then your phone will be covered up to $400 for any incident of Damage or Theft that occurs as long as your coverage is active on a Monthly or Annual Plan.

If you have a phone that is worth approximately $700 to replace, you can choose to purchase a $700 Limit plan so that if your phone was stolen, or damaged by water and unrepairable, you’d receive reimbursement up to the $700 limit to replace the phone.

But any AKKO customer is also welcome to have a plan with a limit that is less than the value of their phone. For example, if a customer with a $700 phone has a $400 Limit plan, they would still be able to get reimbursed for a screen replacement claim, since a screen replacement is below the $400 Limit.

Be sure to understand that it is your decision to purchase a plan with the desired limit of coverage you would want. You do not have to purchase a higher amount of coverage just because the replacement value of your phone is higher.

+Why is this coverage better than a protection option like Cell Helmet or a screen repair warranty?

Well, if you want to be sure you’re covered for more than just a broken screen, then you should be getting an AKKO Phone coverage plan! Because instead of it only being a warranty on the cost to replace a screen, it’s insurance on the entire phone and all types of accidental damages (as well as theft!).

+Can I cover a Phone that is Leased or Financed?

Yes! You may cover any phone which is yours and in your possession. You do not need to have your phone paid-in-full.

Many of our customers have phones paid for on installment plans through their cellular carriers or other retailers.

When you register, the same process applies for adding your phone to your account. For uploading a receipt, just download a PDF or take a screenshot of your most recent bill/statement from the cellular carrier or retailer showing your installment payment and the type of device.

+Are unlocked phones covered?

With an AKKO Plan, you may cover any phone which is yours and in your possession. It does not matter what carrier you use or if your phone is unlocked or financed. Our AKKO Plan is only $15 per month and protects your unlocked phone against Accidental Damage & Theft along with nearly all your other personal electronics and gear at no extra cost!

When you register, the same process applies for adding your phone to your account. You will take pictures of its front and back to verify its working and undamaged condition.

+ Are there any STUDENT or MILITARY discounts with AKKO?
